London: Extremist Teenager Found Guilty of Plot to Behead Soldier
A 19-year-old Brusthom Ziamani arrested by the London police for being suspected in a plot to behead a British soldier, is found guilty, BBC reports.
Last August, the Muslim teenager was caught on the Whitechapel Street carrying a hammer, knife and Islamic flag. Shortly after the arrest he confessed that he was intending to behead a British soldier and take his head to his friend for a photo.
British media present some facts from the life of the arrested teenager: he is from a Jehovah Witness family migrated to UK from Congo. He has adopted Islam last April and is assumed to have ties with Al-Muhajiroun (ALM), a terrorist group. While on custody he revealed his strong sympathy towards Islamic extremist Michael Adebolajo who attacked and killed Lee Rigby, a fusilier from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, back on May 22 of 2013, calling the former "a legend", reports London Evening Standard (LES).
Ziamani’s Facebook activities reveal him as a beginner fighter for "jihad" denouncing unbelievers and striving for martyrdom. As LES presents, "he had a "duty" to help people being raped, tortured and killed in Iraq and Syria".
As BBC quotes the words of Richard Walton, the Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism commander, Ziamani’s vicious plan "starkly illustrates" one of the threats that UK faces currently.
The hearings at court are planned to take place on the second part of March and several local media do not exclude the possibility that the young suspect would be sentenced for quite a long term imprisonment.
