Tsipras Demands War Reparations From Germany
In a meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, the Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras demanded war reparations over Nazi atrocities in Greece, the Guardian reports.
"It’s not a material matter, it’s a moral issue," - Tsipras said. As a response to Tsipras’ demand, Angela Merkel declared that "the issue of reparations is politically and legally closed."
After the meeting, in a question to the journalists whether any agreement was reached with Tsipras on Greece’s bailout, Merkel said that she is only one of 19 eurozone national leaders, thus avoiding to answer the question.
