Ban Ki-moon Called to End Fighting in Yemen
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called for an immediate halt to the fighting in Yemen and stressed that the only way to end the war should be through diplomatic processes, ibtimes.co.uk reports.
This is the first this kind of call after the Saudi Arabia-led coalition started airstrikes on the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen.
According to Ban Ki-moon, Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Middle East, where food security is more acute than in other poorest parts of Africa. Because of intense fighting this problem became even more serious.
