Why should the RA Citizen Participate in December 6 Referendum? Opinions of the Representatives of the Factions
Two days is left till the December 6 referendum on Constitutional changes. A part of the citizens already know what they will vote, others are still thinking about it.
No matter what decision one will make, citizen's participation has a key importance. Why should the Armenian citizen participate in the referendum? "Armedia" IAA have talked with representatives of the RA NA factions to receive answeres to this question.
According to Aram Manukyan, member of the Armenian National Congress Faction, "The Armenian citizens should participate in the upcoming referendum to defend the future of their country or not to allow the eternal power of Serzh Sargsyan".
Zaruhi Postanjyan, member of the "Heritage" Faction, called to take the streets.
Here is a part of her announcement which was titled "The key points of the civic posicion": "Mock the criminal Referendum that was wrapped over you. Understand that you are the power".
Artsvik Minasyan, member of the National Assembly ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Faction, speaking about the importance of the participation in the Referendum, said that "by voting on the Mother Law that defines the citizen-state, the society-state, as well as the nation-state relations, the Armenian citizen decides the issue of his and his country's future". "The apathy, obviously, does not promise anything good, while voting Yes gives a chance to overcome the current difficult conditions in a faster and more organized way."
Vahe Enfiajyan, member of the "Prosperous Armenia" Faction, said: "The referendum on Constitutional changes is an important political process that today happens in Armenia, and every Armenian citizen no matter what position or social conditions he has, should understand that this is very important document for our state. This is why it's imortant that every citizen of Armenia introduces its stance, its view by voting. The participation on the level of citizens is very important, there cannot be other opinion."
Artak Zakaryan, member of "Republican" (RPA) Faction in an answer to the same question said: "It is quite simple: the Constitution concerns everybody, evercy citizen of Armenia. It protects the interests of all citizens, reflects the mechanisms regarding the different issues of all citizens' life. At last, the Constitutional changes represent serious movements in the social-political life of our country. Thus, I think the apathy of the citizen is not justified."
