Snowden Wants to Return to the U.S.A.

Former employee of U.S. intelligence Edward Snowden said he intends to continue to engage in disclosures, regardless of their location, but would like to return to the United States. As reported by RIA Novosti, he said this during a video conference at the Brooklyn Academy of music (BAM).

"What's going on personally with me in this context and in the context of our country, not so important. And I'm okay with that. I never chose to be in Russia, and I would prefer to return to my country," he said.

"I agree to go to jail, and reported about it repeatedly. The only thing I don't want this to be a deterrent to people trying to do the right thing in difficult situations," said former intelligence officer. According to him, the Ministry of justice is considering his offer.

The United States authorities accuse Snowden of espionage, if returned home he faces up to 30 years in prison. In 2013, Snowden gave journalists secret documents about the activities of U.S. intelligence, in particular, on the conduct of large-scale surveillance of telephone calls and electronic correspondence of citizens of the United States and the leaders of other countries.
