Pope Francis is the 266th Pope of Rome, who was given the name Jorge Mario Bergoglio when born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, in a family of Italian immigrants, a railway worker Giuseppe Mario Bergoglio and his wife Regina Maria Sivori. He was the youngest of five children. Elected as Pope on March 13, 2013, Jorge became the first Pope in the history of the Catholic Church who chose the name Francis. He chose this name in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the Catholic saint.

He was also the first Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church that was born outside Europe, in America.

Unlike other priests, Pope Francis did not devote his time only to the study of theology. Francis went to university, got a diploma of chemist. For a while he even taught this subject in a high school. The ordination took place on December 13, 1969.

Before becoming a priest, Francis (then - Jorge) loved to dance tango with his hot girlfriend.

It should also be noted that Pope Francis loves football, he actively supports the Argentinian team, "San Lorenzo". The head of the Catholic Church likes also fantasy. He has read many works by Tolkien. He is a big fan of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges and Leopoldo Marechal, as well as Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Pope taught literature, philosophy and theology in three Catholic colleges in Buenos Aires. In addition to Spanish, he is fluent in Italian and German.

Since 1994 Pope has not been watching any TV programs, because he gave a vow to the Virgin Mary. As for the success of the favorite Argentine football team, he learns it from his Swiss Guards.

Rather than sitting back and waiting for the chef to prepare something to eat, Pope Francis is often engaged in cooking himself. They say he makes paella especially good.

Being conservative, Pope Francis does not approve the extramarital affairs, but believes that the church and the priests should not abandon the baptism of children born out of wedlock.

It should be recalled that on June 24-26, the Pope's visit is scheduled to Armenia. On April 12, 2015 Pope Francis celebrated the liturgy in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Then he said that "in the last century there were three large-scale, unprecedented tragedies and the first of them was the Armenian Genocide." Before that, in April 2006, the Pope - then Cardinal Bergoglio - and Archbishop Gisak (Primate of Argentina and Chile Diocese) together held an ecumenical memorial service for innocent victims, and in 2005 Archbishop Bergoglio was present at the opening of the cross-stone on the day of the 95th anniversary of Armenian Genocide and at that time he said he would like to be buried under that very "khachkar".
