What will Trump's New Cabinet be Like?

After a stunning win that upended the American political landscape, President-elect Donald Trump and his top advisers now must put together a White House staff and Cabinet — a group that may well include some of those same advisers.

Thus Washington began its transition of power and Trump promised a seismic shift in nearly every facet of the capital city, from military and executive agencies to federal courts and financial and political establishments.

According to USA Today, here are a few possibilities for some of the most powerful roles in a new Trump administration:

Rudy Giuliani, 72. The ex-New York City mayor became one of Trump's highest-profile surrogates. The former prosecutor could now be in line for attorney general.

As mayor of the city from 1994 to 2001 he was credited with lowering the rate of violent crime and making major improvements in the quality of life in America's biggest and most complex metropolis.

As U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, he prosecuted major Mafia cases and Wall Street corruption.

He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 but withdrew after learning he had prostate cancer.

Jeff Sessions, 69. During the primary campaign, Sessions became the first sitting member of the U.S. Senate to endorse Trump's campaign. Now, the Alabama senator could be another possibility to lead the Pentagon.

One of the Senate's most conservative members, Mr. Sessions has opposed nearly every Democratic initiative under President Barack Obama, including the Affordable Care Act and the repeal of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell,” the ban on gays serving in the military.

A supporter of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, he sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Budget Committee and the committee on environment and public works.

Chris Christie, 54. Though shadowed by the recent Bridgegate trial, the New Jersey governor has been a fixture at Trump's side since endorsing him in February and will likely have his eye on a spot in the new administration at the Justice Department or in the White House.

During the Republican primary debates, Mr. Christie helped Mr. Trump by damaging rival Marco Rubio with a scathing attack on the Florida Senator's scripted answers to questions.

A former U.S. Attorney, Mr. Christie later headed Mr. Trump's transition team and was reportedly on the shortlist for his vice-presidential running mate.

Newt Gingrich, 73. The ex-House speaker became a top adviser and television spokesperson for Trump during the campaign and was even among the real estate mogul's finalists for running mate. He is said to be interested in becoming secretary of State.

He was forced to resign the speakership four years later because of ethics violations. But he remained an influential Republican ideas man, writer and political consultant in his years out of office. He made an unsuccessful run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2011.

An early Trump supporter, Mr. Gingrich reportedly made the New York billionaire's shortlist of potential vice-presidential running mates but was passed over in favor of Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

Reince Priebus, 44.The chairman of the Republican National Committee — which ran the Trump campaign's get-out-the-vote operation — could wind up as Trump's White House chief of staff.

As Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mr. Priebus provided Mr. Trump with a crucial link to the party's resources in getting out the vote as well as to a skittish Republican leadership.

A lawyer with deep roots in Wisconsin's Republican party, Mr. Priebus is close to House Speaker Paul Ryan, a fellow Wisconsinite who will be key to passage of the new administration's legislative agenda
