Draft Resolution on the Situation of Human Rights in Crimea Adopted
The draft resolution on the situation of human rights in Crimea, calling for international monitoring of the situation in the field of human rights was adopted by the Third Committee of the UNGA-social, humanitarian and cultural issues, Latest World News reports.
The document, sponsored by Ukraine, will be submitted for consideration of the UN General Assembly. The document was supported by 73 States, 23 countries opposed, and 76 abstaining. Among those who voted for the project — the majority of European countries and the USA against Russia, China, Serbia, Armenia, Cuba, India, Kazakhstan and others.
The draft resolution condemns "human rights abuses, discriminatory measures and practices against the inhabitants of the Crimea, including the Crimean Tatars, but also Ukrainians and persons belonging to other ethnic and religious groups".
