Greece's Bailout Talks Under Way
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has asked European Council President Donald Tusk on Friday to hold another EU leaders’ summit on Sunday if euro zone Finance Ministers fail to agree to extend the bailout deal for Athens, Reuters reports.
A Greek government official said that Tsipras spoke to Tusk, who chairs such summits and is responsible for convening them. Tsipras offered that in case the Eurogroup fails to reach a "positive conclusion" at talks going on in Brussels on Friday Tsipras would request a higher level meeting.
As for the Eurogroup meeting being held at the moment, Greece's leftist Prime Minister said he is sure that euro zone Finance Ministers will accept Athens' request for extention of the loan although Germany demands "significant improvements" in Greek reform commitments.
