This week in Europe
Below we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming events in Europe that directly concern or present a particular interest for Armenia. Special attention is paid to international organizations and the scheduled meetings and events in the framework of their activities.
EU Foreign Affairs Council will meet on May 18. The issues of migration, EU’s neighborhood policy, as well as Middle East peace process will be discussed. The same day the meeting of The EU-Turkey Association Council is scheduled.
On May 18 final meeting of NATO Parliamentary Assembly plenary session will be held.
European Parliament will hօld plenary meeting on May 18-21. Among other issues 2014 Progress Report on Turkey, situation in Ethiopia, Eastern Partnership summit (21-22 May) are on the agenda.
Presidency in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will pass from Belgium to Bosnia and Herzegovina on May 19 during the meeting of the Committee.
On 19-20 May, the 1st Eastern Partnership (EaP) Media Conference will take place in Riga. It will bring together over 350 media representatives, experts, academia, civil society and policymakers from the EaP countries. Among the special guests of the conference is Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
Eastern Partnership Summit will take place in Riga on May 21-22. The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, Federica Mogherini and Johannes Hahn participate in the summit․ Johannes Hahn also participates in the Second Eastern Partnership Civil Society Conference in Riga, which will take place on the same day.
