Spain’s Toledo Hosts Photo Exhibition "Genocide of Armenian Culture: Before and After"

The International Centre of Eastern Christian Studies organized a photo exhibition titled "Genocide of Armenian Culture: Before and After" in the framework of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The exposition was made possible due to Samvel Karapetian, monument research specialist and President of the Research on Armenian Architecture Foundation, as well as the exhibits provided by the Foundation, ABC.es reports.

The exhibition presents the rich Christian heritage, left in the territory of modern Turkey after the tragic events.

The idea of the exposition is to familiarize the visitors with the fact that the Armenian Genocide did not end with deportations and mass killings of 1,5 million people, but that their churches and monasteries – genuine evidence of faith and national identity of the people – were also desecrated and destroyed by Turks. This resulted in clearing all the traces of cultural, spiritual and Christian values left by the Armenian people in Western Armenia for centuries.

The exposition which was a great success in Granada, launched on September 15 in the exhibition hall of Archdiocese of Toledo, where it will stay till September 26. Then it will move to the Cultural Center of Rafael Morales in Talavera de la Reina, where it will be exposed from October 1 to 15.
