Erdogan Thanked Putin

rt.com

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said declared that he was glad when Russian leader Vladimir Putin called him after the coup attempt in the republic in July, TASS reports.

"Indeed, your call shortly after the coup attempt made me personally and my colleagues, and our people very happy," Erdogan said during the talks with the Russian president.

Erdogan has thanked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for the meeting and said that bilateral relations are set on the positive track.

"I would like to thank you for finding time for us during this delicate period," Erdogan said. "As you remember, we actually planned to hold a meeting at the G20 (summit in China in September) but, as you know, we had to slightly change our plans because of what happened," the Turkish president added.

"I once again thank you for the opportunity to meet with you because Turkish-Russian relations have really been set on the positive track," Erdogan noted.

"We have a lot of issues on the agenda concerning bilateral relations and their development," he said. "The region expects us to make many political decisions," he told Putin.

"I believe that our cooperation will make a sizeable contribution to solving many problems in the region," Erdogan said.
