Saudi Arabia Joins Israel in the Fight Against the Iranian Nuclear Program

The confrontation between Iran and Saudi Arabia has long roots. This is not just a confrontation between the Arabs and the Persians. Here, as is the case in Islam, faith plays an important role. Saudis are Sunni Muslims, whereas Iranians – Shiite. The struggle between these 2 branches is often much more violent than the struggle between Islam and, for example, Christianity. A very severe confrontation between Sunnis and Shiites can be seen in the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria).

Today, we may be witnessing a new round of confrontation in regard with the international debate on the Iranian nuclear issue. As it is known, Iran, in talks with the so-called "Six" international negotiators (the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany), by claiming that it stops the creation of nuclear weapons, at the same time insists on its right to develop "peaceful atom."

Many, particularly Israel, are very skeptical about the Iranian nuclear deal. They have fears that even if Tehran does not create nuclear bombs, it will have enough fuel processed in nuclear power plants to create the so-called "dirty bombs."

Thus, despite the fact that the six powers claim that the measures undertaken are sufficient to limit the development of Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy, the opponents of Iran's nuclear industry are not sure about this and their lines, seems, to be extending – Riyadh also wants to join those states.

As BBC informs, the Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal declared that the deal on Iran's nuclear program could prompt other regional states to develop atomic fuel. According to him whatever comes out of the talks, Saudi Arabia will want the same. Thus in the region – near Israel, a new ally on the fight against the Iranian nuclear program may appear…
