Tevan Poghosyan: Free, Transparent and Competitive Elections Were Held in NKR

"Armedia" Information, Analytical Agency presents an exclusive interview with the member of Heritage Party Tevan Poghosyan, who was in the Armenian parliamentary delegation conducting observation mission during the NKR Parliamentary elections.

- Mr. Poghosyan, how would you assess the NKR parliamentary elections? Were all conditions provided for holding transparent and legitimate elections?

- Actually, yes, very free, transparent and competitive elections were held in NKR. One can only say that the government, which would be formed soon, is to have 100% legitimacy.

- How would you describe the importance of NKR parliamentary elections?

- First of all, we should realize that this is not the first time a parliament is formed. All NKR parliaments have always worked in accordance with the legislation. Now again a legislative group is to be formed, which will work for the development of Artsakh on all future issues concerning parliamentary diplomacy, parliamentary representation in different platforms, economic issues, as well as on issues clarifying the role in the development of laws. Accordingly the administrative work and the state formation in Artsakh will develop and form a powerful country.

- How much will the elections impact the change of the perceptions of the international community?

- It does not matter what statements were made or what was said previously, Artsakh continues to flourish.

100 international observers from 25 countries have seen how Artsakh is developing. And, of course, on the basis of the information spread through the international media by those 100 observers and organizations, an opinion will be shaped around the world that Artsakh is standing on the right track. They would announce what they have seen with their own eyes and, of course, more exact information would be disseminated about NKR.

However, this does not mean that countries will immediately recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, but step by step the common perception of the fact that Artsakh is an independent and sovereign country will promote the recognition process in the world.
