The Process of Armenian Genocide International Recognition and Condemnation Transform to New, Legal, Stage

Recently widely circulating true thesis according to which the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is a new millstone for the initiatives aiming at the recognition and condemnation of the Genocide received practical realization. The vivid example of which became the appeal to Turkish Constitutional Court to return the seat of  Armenian Catholicosate in Sis. It should be considered a significant step forward and in order to realize its importance it should be viewed in the light of the following thesis.

First of all this is a clear message to Turkey and to the international community that the recognition of the Armenian Genocide cannot be viewed as an end and the compensation for the psychological and physical losses, the Armenians had to bear because of Genocide, is to be considered  its logical continuation. Second, in fact, the case of Catholicosate in Sis helps transforms the international recognition of Genocide to new, legal platform; this will make our demands from Turkey more substantial.

Thus, to conclude the above mentioned, one thing remains to add: the appeal to Turkish Constitutional Court to return the Armenian Catholicosate in Sis demonstrates a good precedent  for the future  individual and group appeals against Turkey; the process which  aspires to become a core component of the Armenia-Diaspora-Artsakh joint agenda.
