The Speaker of the Knesset Reiterates the Need for Recognizing the Armenian Genocide

The Knesset once again raised the question of recognizing the Armenian Genocide, Haqqin.az reports. As in May, this time also the initiator of the discussion was the Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein. According to Israeli media, Edelstein recently attended a meeting of the Commission on Education, Culture and Sport, dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The politician, who visited the memorial of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, reiterated the need for its recognition.

Edelstein has not lost hope that the Knesset will behave with dignity and will take a decision that will be in accordance with the morals of a democratic state. The speaker noted that many governments of the world have not decided on the issue of recognizing the Armenian Genocide, but the parliaments of these countries clearly expressed their position. "I will try to promote this topic, and I hope that the members of the Knesset will know how to vote at the decisive moment," he said.
