US Election Campaign: Sex Scandals Continue

politanalitika.ru

US Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's negative rating is increasing and even exceeds the negative ratings of Donald Trump. This is evidenced by the Washington Post and ABC television poll conducted together.

It is reported that 60% of respondents have negative perceptions of Clinton's candidacy, while 58 percent – for Trump candidacy. 97 percent of Trump supporters among those surveyed do not like Clinton while 95 percent among Clinton's supporters do not like Trump. According to the poll, Clinton has 46% of support now and Trump has 45%.

A huge effect on this data has had the publication of new information on the investigation of electronic of Clinton by the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, James Komi. In particular Komi said that the investigation regarding Clinton's correspondence, which was suspended in 2015, launched again. The reason for this was the discovery of Clinton’s letters in her assistant Huma Abedin’s husband’s, former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s computer.

It should be noted that Weiner is under investigation for sending messages with immoral content to teenagers. Nothing is reported about the content of the letters found in the computer, but Clinton's connection with the sex scandal of former congressman had really negative impact on Clinton’s rating, which is quite an important point in the campaign. At the same time on this background the scandal about Clinton’s non-traditional sexual orientation came up again, as well as rumors about her affair with the above-mentioned Huma Abedin.

As for the US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, his name is also connected with a lot of sex scandals. Trump’s opponents decided to release video in which Trump spoke negatively about women, and besides 11 women accused him of sexual harassment. All this certainly had a serious impact on candidate’s rating.

The US presidential elections will be held on November 8. Experts note that the peculiarity of this campaign is that presidential candidates focus more on personal rather than on political topics.
