How Do Americans and Russians Treat Each Other?

 In the recent months, the intensified allegations by the American government against Russia led to a deterioration of the US attitude towards this country. Thus, 54 percent of the US population believes that Russia is a threat for the US. Moreover, the perception of Americans about the threat of Russia is politicized. Russia's power and influence in the world is perceived as a threat for the US by 67 percent of Democrats, instead of 37 last year. This index among Republicans is reduced. Russia is now perceived as a threat by 41 percent of Republicans, instead of 46 of the previous year.

It should be noted, that as shown by surveys conducted during the last year in Russia, Russians, in their turn, has a negative attitude towards the US. 56 percent of the Russian population believes that "America's desire to control other countries" is a threat for their country. It should be noted that during the last two years this indicator has decreased: in 2014 74 percent of the Russian population treat the US badly. Although about 2 percent of Russians think about the US  "very well”, polls show that in recent years this indicator has grown.

In any case, analysts are most inclined to believe that in the future there will be positive developments in Russian-American relations, which in their opinion is supported by the US President-elect Donald Trump, who has repeatedly praised the Russian president and actively defended Moscow from the Obama administration's accusations of cyber attack. For their part, the Kremlin statements saying that Trump’s initiative will not remain unanswered and Moscow is ready for a constructive dialogue with the new US administration.
