Catalonia Will Turn to EU over the Violation of Human Rights during the Referendum

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Catalonia, Raul Romev, stated that the authorities of the region of they intend to apply to the EU over the violation of human rights during the referendum for independence from Spain, Front News informs.

"We will turn to the EU about the violation of basic human rights, which threatens the EU itself. We call on European institutions to condemn violence against which European citizens suffer," he said.

To note, it is reported that, on October 1, during the referendum on independence of Catalonia from Madrid, the police used rubber bullets and special means against the voters, and drew residents from polling stations, using physical force.

On the part of the police, 11 law enforcement officers were injured.
