In a Retrospect: Interview With Four Day Appril War Participant (EXCLUSIVE)

On the night of April 2, 2016 Azerbaijan unleashed large scale military aggression along the border with Artsakh. During the four-day war both sides suffered big number of casualties.

”Armedia” IAA talked to Daniel Davtyan, one of the April war heroes, who suffered cerebral fracture injury during the war.

At what point did you realize that you deal with a large scale military operations rather than a sabotage?

- In the morning of April 2 it was clear that a war broke out. Heavy artillery was being used against our post. It was unexpected but we always had the feeling that whenever a war breaks out or an attack is unleashed we must be ready for an equal counter-attack. I should emphasize that we all did that with whatever means were available. In a retrospect  to the developments I come to think that we should have been more cruel and severe. If a war breaks out now, our army is better equipped with arms and armament and it will be easier to resist and conquer new territories.

- How did the war impact your worldview?

- We came to realize as a result that regardless of one’s location one must always keep vigil.

The person is different before and after a war. When you go through a war you unwillingly become vigilant with the adversary becoming predictable.
