Turkish Armed Forces Entered into Northern Syria

Photo from the Guardian

Turkish troops in armored vehicles managed to enter  into northern Syria and evacuated a historic Ottoman tomb along with the soldiers guarding it, BBC reports.

According to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu Turkiish  troops had destroyed the tomb's complex, apparently to prevent its being used by Islamic State (IS) fighters.

"We had given the Turkish armed forces a directive to protect our spiritual values and the safety of our armed forces personnel,"  Davutoglu  noted.

Earlier Davutoglu in a series of tweets praised the armed forces of Turkey for carrying out a "highly successful" operation notwithstanding  "inherent risks" of conflict in Syria.

According to  Prime Minister of the country  the remains of  Suleyman Shah had been moved to Turkey but would soon be reburied  in an area closer to the Turkish border of Syria under Turkish military control.

Suleyman Shah was grandfather of the founder of the Ottoman Empire, Osman the first. Turkey considers the shrine be to sovereign territory.
