UNESCO Condemned Saudi-Led Air Strikes in Yemen
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) condemned the Saudi-led air strikes in Yemen that killed six people in the Old City of Sanaa and leveled parts of a 3,000-year-old site, considered "one of the world's oldest jewels" of Islamic culture, The Jerusalem Post reports.
"I am profoundly distressed by the loss of human lives as well as by the damage inflicted on one of the world's oldest jewels of Islamic urban landscape. I am shocked by the images of these magnificent many-storyed tower-houses and serene gardens reduced to rubble," said UNESCO head Irina Bokova.
The Old City was included in UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
