Turkey Wants Peace: Kurdish Party

Turkey prepares for early elections. According to Turkey's Constitution, an interim government must be formed in five days but not all parties want to participate in this government. Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) say they will not take part in such an interim government led by the Justice and Development Party (AKP).

In his turn, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Selahattin Demirtas said "Turkey can no longer carry the weight of the rising number of killings". He urged the President to listen to calls for an imminent silencing of arms, Hurriyet reports. "Not only the HDP, but the whole of Turkey wants peace," Demirtas told reporters.

At the same time he noticed that his party is ready to take part in the interim government, however, "he will not be surprised" if the Prime Minister tries to form a cabinet without the Kurdish party.
