Migration Crisis is a Matter of Solidarity. Ban Ki Moon
Before the World Summit of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Ban Ki Moon wrote an article for the newspaper "Kommersant" on how to address migration issues.
The secretary general said that more than 60 million people have become refugees because of violence or persecution, another 225 million have left their countries in search of better life. People leave home because of war, human rights violations, economic situation and natural disasters.
"However, this is not a crisis for its large numbers of refugees, it is a crisis of solidarity", - stressed Mr. Ban, adding that almost 90% of the refugees arrive in developing countries, with eight countries taking more than half of the world's migrants. In turn, 75% of UN resources are allocated to address only ten states.
