US Upcoming Presidential Elections and Armenia

United States presidential elections are approaching their finals. On November 8, one of the most important political events of the year will take place, on the result of which a lot of things depend.

The US presidential elections can also be called "global elections", taking into account their impact on all the regions of the world, and the South Caucasus, in particular, including Armenia.

Candidates, as we know, are the billionaire Donald Trump from the Republican Party, who supports the isolation policy and does not want the US to get involved in various conflicts, and the former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton from Democratic Party, who is much better informed about our region.

Politicians claim that Trump has a very limited understanding of the South Caucasus. His only experience has been the business deal with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, while Clinton personally visited both Baku and Yerevan and knows all the nuances of the Karabakh conflict.

Clinton is also well aware of the Armenian-Turkish relations, and had participated in the process of their normalization working with the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, it should be noted that Clinton, as well as the whole Democratic Party have a closer relationship with Armenian-American voters and lobby groups.

Despite the disappointment under Obama's rule and the fact that the lobbying structures have no serious expectations from the US in what relates to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian-American community seems to be more inclined to support Clinton.
