What to Expect from BRICS 2015 Summit?

  •  World

Leaders from the BRICS countries are expected to discuss long-term goals of the bloc and measures to promote cooperation at their seventh summit in Ufa, Russia, which will launch tomorrow, on 7th of July and go on for two days.

Leaders of the world's five leading emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will meet to formulate future development strategies for the thriving cooperation mechanism, China Daily reports.

Though this year the main subject of discussion will be global development, emphasizing the economic cooperation, the BRICS leaders would also try to share their views on the situation in Syria and Yemen, threats from the ISIS and continuing instability in Afghanistan. Both India and Russia have been worried with continuing scourge of terrorism in Afghanistan.

Besides, taking into consideration yesterday’s referendum held in Greece, and the results of it, another important topic to be discussed at the BRICS summit will be the Greek Crisis and the means of helping Greek people.

According to some sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Alexis Tsipras, the Prime Minister of Greece to the Summit, but whether the latter will be present tomorrow in Ufa or not, is unknown yet.

Let’s recall that Putin had suggested to help Greece with money even before the referendum, let alone now, at this very moment, when the results of it actually challenged the European leaders and the EU as a whole. It is more than convenient now for Russia to offer a "hand of support" to Greece, in other words, to give a shoulder to cry on.
But the most interesting thing is that the BRICS countries recently were calling for the USA to corporate more actively with them and form some good stable relationship.

The USA-based Schiller Institute even organized a petition in this regard titled "Resolution Calling for the US and Europe to Reject Geopolitics and Collaborate with the BRICS" urging Washington and the European Union to collaborate with BRICS nations for the sake of global economic development. It has been signed by more than 2,000 people in the United States and internationally, Sputnik News reports.

According to the Schiller Institute founder the main purpose of the petition was to make people aware, that there is an alternative to the present policy of confrontation against Russia and China, and that the BRICS nations present a new model of international relations based on mutual cooperation, which is the essence of the new world order.

However, let’s follow the upcoming developments of the Summit and see what important and interesting outcomes it may have.
